This article makes some good points about the cost of care and the impact of the Fair Labor Standards Act. At Griswold, we try very hard to keep overhead costs down to make our services affordable, while at the same time paying our caregivers more than the average for their profession. According to this article, in 2008 cost for care ranged between $19 and $32 an hour. We charge $15/hour in San Antonio and $16/hour in Houston. We are able to keep our costs low, and therefore affordable, while at the same time paying our caregivers between $10.50 and $11.00 per hour.
